3 Easy Green School Fundraisers

It’s that time of year again. Kids head back to school and the fundraising frenzy begins. If you’re as tired as I am of the same old fundraisers, you’ll be happy to know that there are not only fresh, new ideas out there – there are plenty of green and healthy fundraisers that are also very easy to manage and best of all, they are effective at raising money for your school!

Here are three of our favorite easy ways to green your school fundraising:

1) Schoola: Upcycled clothing is one of the best ways to reduce waste and exposure to toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, which is used by many popular clothing brands. With Schoola‘s online consignment store, you can buy used kids’ clothing at a fraction of the price you’d pay for the same items new, and support schools at the same time. If you want to raise funds with Schoola, all you have to do is collect gently used clothing, send it to Schoola (at their cost). The Schoola team sorts and posts your items to their site and when your items are purchased, your school gets up to 40% of the sales price. Shop Now and save 10% on your first order plus free shipping on orders over $50!

Mighty Schools2) Mighty Nest: If you already shop at Mighty Nest, this fundraiser is a no-brainer. Just choose/register your school, and 15% of every Mighty Nest purchase will be automatically donated at no extra cost to you! Mighty Nest makes fundraising fun, too, with contests and giveaways throughout the year. If you don’t shop there already, be sure to check out their collection of non-toxic, green and healthy products for babies and kids. They have an especially great eco-lunch supply collection that should not be missed! Shop now and be sure to sign up for Mighty Schools to start earning money for your school with each purchase!

3) TerraCycle: This inventive green fundraising program helps reduce waste by collecting items that are normally difficult to recycle like ink cartridges, drink pouches, tape dispensers and glue sticks. They provide all the marketing materials (signs, posters, etc.), ideas for promoting your campaign, educational materials, and even the shipping label to send your items in. All you have to do is sign up for the brigades you are interested in, collect the items and ship them to TerraCycle. The Company will award your organization points which you can redeem for payouts to your school, and then TerraCycle recycles your waste products by turning them into cool new products. Win-win!
